The basic idea is that when you peel off the outer layer of skin, it grows back
smoother. But here are some warnings before you sign up.
Phenol peels will leave you with depigmented skin that can be
permanently vulnerable to the sun. It's not for Asians.
TCA (trichloroacetic acid) is what most dermatologists use. It can create
hyperpigmentation (dark spots, opposite of problems with phenol) to which
Asians are susceptible.
TCA, at 25% concentration, can cause scarring.
You're vulnerable to the sun, for up to 12 weeks, depending on the depth of
the peel. And sunscreen is a must for rest of the lifetime, for those who are active in sports.
