June 15, 2026 – Chinese beauty is no longer just competing on price. A new generation of homegrown brands headlined by Proya, Florasis, Winona, and Maogeping has moved decisively into the premium tier by combining Traditional Chinese Medicine ingredient storytelling with clinically-framed actives and agile supply chains that compress new product launches to weeks rather than quarters.
Maogeping, the brand founded by opera singer-turned-celebrity makeup artist Mao Geping, went public in Hong Kong and posted a 22.7 percent net profit margin – second only to biotech giant Giant Biogene. Its robust offline retail model anchored at luxury department store counters, combined with livestreamed makeup tutorials, is a blueprint the industry is watching closely.
Meanwhile, Florasis remains the cultural design leader after becoming the first C-beauty brand to open a counter at Paris’s Samaritaine in 2025. The C-beauty market is projected to reach $43.4 billion globally by 2033, growing at 10.3 percent annually.
